'92 240 in-dash headlight relay woes
i replaced a burned out @ 1" sq, 5 slot in-dash headlight relay. at 1st all lights came back normal. then i could not get parking lights-only in the 1 click headlight switch position (got full headlights and parking lights), then the signal lights went out. are the new problems to do with the new headlight relay, fuses, or a mistake i made reassembling the dash etc. ? the 5 slot relay connector was burned by the old relay. i repaired that connector. it seems to work ok, but i ordered a new 1 to be sure. some say a bad headlight switch causes my new problems, so i ordered 1 of those. did i miss something? have not tested any circuits with a meter or light yet.
update: signal lights now on. unrelated to in-dash headlight relay apparently, since came back when i fully reinstalled instrument cluster. but, replaced the headlight switch, and still cannot get parking lights only in the '1 click' headlight switch position. still get full headlights there. guessing the problem is in the relay coupler (kept the old 1 though partially melted and repaired it) or the relay itself. have a new coupler on order. if that does not work must assume something is wrong in the new relay. ideas?
