hey needs a little help here. I'm trying to resolve a buddy's '91 940 wagon with a cold start problem. Everything I've read said it could be a vacuum leak (which I tested and found non), or the cold fuel injector. So I was going to run the test light on the injector but cant seem to find it. Digging deeper and looking at a few diagrams I noticed the line that is suppose to run from the fuel rail down to it has been capped off.

Now here is the thing, this is a 100% stock california car, since its a CA car does that mean it didn't have one? If so any other thoughts what it could be? my assumption is it could be the fuel pump being weak due to the cold or the injectors.

My '89 740 (Wisconsin market) doesn't have one, either. It should be the same engine. What exactly are the symptoms?

 

when it gets cold it has a hard time starting, the colder it get the worst it is and usually requires a spray for starter fluid. Once it warms up it does just fine.

 

I wonder if the fuel pressure regulator has failed. Pull the vac line off of it, and see if it smells like fuel. If it does, it's bad. It is #5 in your picture.

 

try this, next time in the cold start, hold half throttle while cranking. see if it helps
