Question Anyone remembers Volvo's comeback from a public image crisis?

Hello, I'm working on a presentation (school assignment) where I show to my audience which options companies have when going through a public image crisis.

There are plenty of ways of dealing with such crisis but I'm focusing on finding the best way. And this is where Volvo comes in.

I don't remember much: some years ago Volvo was involved in a scandal that greatly hurt the company reputation of safest car brand in the world. However, Volvo managed to come out of this victorious somehow!
I need your help to find the article or the video that proves I'm not mad and can help with my presentation.

Not sure exactly what you're talking about. The only thing that comes to mind is the problems they had with the early electronic throttle bodies. Problems started happening around 2004 or 2005, just as the warranty was expiring on the early ones (1999-2001ish)

Are you certain that you are not thinking of the problem Audi had some years back stemming from an erroneous report on "60 Minutes" about unintended acceleration?

Actually, Volvo did have an issue with the 850s being prone to blow outs and a class action law suit was settled somewhere around 2000 (I think I got $100 - not enough for the three tires I lost). Volvo knew of the tire issues since the dealer talked me OUT of getting the Columbia 16 inch rims vs the 15 inch Cetus (that is in August 1995 BTW). Funny thing was the fix for the problem was to ignore the pressure recommendations on the fuel door and once I started keeping 36-38 PSI up front, no more blow outs.
