auxiliary battery replacement

After getting an alert: "parking brake temporarily not available" on my Volvo 2017 xc90, it was determined that I had to replace the auxiliary battery. That did not solve the problem because, apparently, a software upgrade is required when the battery is replaced. So, to the cost of the battery I will need to add the cost of the software upgrade which the dealer tells me can cost over $200 since my car is out of warranty. Is there any way that I can do my own software update? Really disappointed with this gouging that Volvo allows.

According to the Volvo website it is a dealer only update which can done when you have it serviced..

but I am curious as to why a software update is required after replacing the aux battery . Who gave you this advice ?
there is no mention of this on the Volvo Support page .. https://www.volvocars.com/en-th/supp...-parking-brake

Yes you will need an account with Volvo at volvotechinfo.com, a VIDA subscription, the appropriate hardware to run VIDA on, the appropriate interface for your car (DICE or Ethernet adapter) and a few hours of time to figure out (hopefully) how to operate VIDA. I've done many downloads over the past 20 years for customers cars. And there are some individuals that have done their own downloads on this forum and many more on Sweedespeed. Unfortunately it's usually not something that most individuals do for themselves.
