so yeah i just joined this forum not even a week hoping to learn more about the volvos and the community going on around here. unfortunately i just recently got into a car accident in my s80, it is trashed. some guy cut me off and forced me to hit a building in the very corner so its pretty much totaled. to make it worse he fled the scene and im probly not going to see him again. the insurance wasnt under my name so im probly not getting any help there. i had about 10grand left to pay off the car. now i gotta take it to the body shop and see what they say. this weekend has been a disaster. monday i start school and im out of a car to drive so i have to figure something out. i cant afford another car cause im paying for this one and school isnt going to allow me to work much either. i am so stressed out right now.

 

Rule number 1, never let someone run you off the road without contact. They will always run and leave you with the bag.

That being said, hopefully you can get your car back on the road without to much expense. I have seen shops get a car running well for under $500, try a rebuild/salvage shop if the other shops cost to much. You may have to drive a banged up car for a while but it's better than walking.
