Default check engin light

1994 940T, no computer codes here, tried to get autozone to read it. Will I risk future problems by ignoring the check engin light??

I purchased the manual I have from eBay. It's a computer disk. OBD-II connector is the one that takes the code reader. You can try www.ipdusa.com for manuals, etc.

Default check engine light

My check engine light is on, however, I had every code popping up! Brake failure, STP, transmission, electrical, alarm system. I let the car sit for three days. the codes went away, but engine light is still on. I have a 2001 S60 2.4T with 93K. It runs okay with light on...is currently at the shop being diagnosed. Any thoughts?

There are too many possibilities as the check engine light simply tells the mechanic to hook up the onboard diagnostic computer (OBD I or II, don't know for 1994, U.S. GM cars were OBD I at the time) to see what might be wrong. PCV? O2 sensor? Fuel pressure? Spark? EGR? Air Mass Flow Sensor?
The list goes on and on. Could be one thing or multiple things.

I know this isn't much help, but the key to remember is that if the OBD says "check", that's what it means. It doesn't mean "this is screwed up and must be replaced." The lazy or greedy shop will simply replace every part and gizmo that might be wrong. Don't fall for it.
