Electronic Throttle Pendulum

Anyone know if the throttle pendulum is likely to be the cause of erratic idling (enging revs up then down continuously) and if so what to do about it ?

Possible I would try cleaning it first.

On other cars I've seen this caused by a vacuum leak on the intake somewhere on the 'inboard' side of the MAF.

What year car do you have? Volvo extended the warrenty to 10 years or 200,000 miles on cars with ETM's ( 99-01 and some 02 )
