Have an 97 850 throwing a P0136 code. O2 sensor bank1 sensor 2. I just want to make sure this is the sensor behind the Cat before i shell out the dough and replace the wrong one. Can anyone help?

This should tell all:


A code P0136 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
[ul][*]Faulty O2 sensor leak in exhaust close to O2 sensor[*]Short to voltage on O2 signal circuit[*]Open in circuit resistance caused by corrosion in connector [/ul]
Possible Solutions
[ul][*]Replace the second oxygen sensor on bank 1[*]Repair open or short in signal circuit[*]Clean corrosion from connector [/ul]

Yes it is the rear O2

 

I bought a 98 Volvo S70 from a guy that told me he went through the whole car. Well that was a big lie. I pretty much rebuilt everything on my own except the engine and now finally down to code P0136 so I am going to try and replace the O2 sensor near the cat and will let you know how I make out. I hear that the connectors can short out and cause this code so will clean those out as well. Have to say I love my Volvo though and get lots of parts at a pick and pull junk yard it has saved me 100's
