The ETS light came on after our 99 V70 wagon suddenly decreased in speed and seemed to go into the "limp home mode". The ETM software was replaced 2 years ago. The dealer did a dx on this new problem and told it is not the ETS instead it is the Voltage Regulator and Battery that needs to be replace. Also the "ECM" system software needs to be updated. This was news to us as we had a new battery installed 15 mos prior, and the symptoms seem like the ETS problem that these models have been experiencing. Does this dx sound familiar to anyone ? Maybe low voltage caused the light.
