Has anyone replaced the front driveshafts DIY or is it a Volvo Mechanic job only. I have an intermittent knocking under load coming from the front end and I think one might be bad. Also have a lot of grease around the driver side wheel area that might have come from the CV joint boot.

The rear driveshaft is not on the car right now to isolate the noise so it isn't the big driveshaft.

Some background: I just rebuilt my wife's 2008 Ford Expedition 5.4L motor in my garage so I am fairly handy with car repairs. Just have not worked on a Volvo much at all.
