Default Guess what happened today to my car!

So I was driving home from work tonight and the car seemed to bounce a little more than normal. But didn't really realize how bad it was till I got almost all the way home. It felt like the car had been lowered and had no suspension at all left on it. I finally get home and get out of the car and look around it.
And I make my way around to the passenger side and guess what I find?
I find this.

This one is to compare how much it dropped.

Not sure yet what happened have to wait for the wife to get home to see if the strut is just stuck compressed or if the spring broke.

Doesn't look too good tech. I think I know a guy who lives in your area that can fix it though.

LOL I was finally able to go out and jack it up and check it out.
The strut had compressed and srayed stuck down all the way. When I jacked it up it was still stuck for almost 1 full minute then it finally released and came down. It is holding back at normal height now.

I have a set of Bilsteins in the garage I have to finish painting then get them installed.
I am going to paint them blue like the calipers.

But the worse part is it took 2 hours last time to align the car and I have camber bolts in there as well. So it is going to be a nightmare to get it all back to normal.

I am going to 100% mark everything and get it as close as I can then get another alignment.

Tech is leading the low live. That's all this is really about. I'll bet his hydraulic pump on the right front died from excessive jumping at some traffic light!

I'm no expert, Tech, but I think those things work better with full frame cars instead of unibody ones. I'll watch a few Cheech & Chong movies to make sure, however.

We just did struts and shocks on my son's 98 T5M two weeks ago. His struts were so bad that when you stood them up the rod would go in just from it's own weight. He also lowered it about 1 1/2 inches.

I don't think I ever heard of a strut sticking like yours did though. Sure glad it was nothing more than that and good news that you had a pair ready to go on. I like the blue look too. Are those Billstein Touring?

I think they are the touring ones. They were originally black. They still have the part # on them but at the moment it still has tape over it while they finished drying.

I really want to lower the car but I already bottom out all the time around town so I cannot lower it.(How sad it is!!!)

LOL It is not always for the younger crowd. I wanted to lower mine for the better handling. But when I scrape pulling in to my parking space every day at work I do not need to lower it anymore.

Yes it does. If I ever get the stang out of the garage and make it my DD again the 850 will get lowered.

yeah that suxs Tech, but if you wanna lower your cars just get bigger wheels and then you can lower it. the car will ride lower on the top of the wheel and you will have more ground clearance cause of the larger wheels. i wanna go up to a 20" wheel since my car is lowered 1.5" that would leave me some room for a body kit that may hang low.

I installed the new struts but not really happy with the way it sits.
Looks to be sitting way to high.

It does look like it is sitting high especially in the front. How does the ride feel? You have 17" wheels on it don't you?
