My 97 Volvo V70 headlights only work when the dashboard switch is off (daytime running lights). So if I drive at night, I can either see the road (lights switched to 'off') or my dashboard (lights switched to 'on'). Any suggestions?

Never heard of this problem before but if you say the front lights work in off-mode this error could be related to a faulty light-switch not closing the circuit for front lights in on-mode. Try replacing/repairing it.
