Help needed - buying a used Volvo
Hi guys,
I've been snooping around the forum for a while looking for user experiences with their Volvos. I've always wanted one and now that my Peugeot is dying it may be a time to do it.
My preference had always been V60, I did a lot of miles over the past few years so I had a diesel. I need a family car with decent power and comfortable ride. No hybrids - out of my budget and since I like to do my own maintenance these are not an option.
My budget is 20.000€ on the upper end and judging by cars listed on mobile.de I could get something under 100.000km for that money with 150hp, automatic gearbox and decent equipment.
My friends horror story was getting a used twin turbo V90 which had it's engine commit suicide while driving 160 km/h on the highway resulting in a new used engine costing cca 7.000€.
How are the the automatic gearboxes in these? Any common issues with the engines? If you had to replace your Volvo what would it be with?
Oh, it also must be Android friendly! New iPhone costs more than my Peugeot.
Thank you for the help!

As to common issues, they vary by year and model / engine. What specific models are you looking at and what years will fit your budget? Regarding the what we'd buy to replace a Volvo - well, we just purchased a Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid. 45 MPGs in town and highway (for real), consuming regular gas.

Why Corolla?
