I was just wondering what style of driving you do with your cars. Are you the type to "baby" the car while driving by taking off slow and so on? or do you drive a little more agressively by accelerating hard and/or driving fast?

Im just too addicted to the turbo and tip tronic mode, especially on the highway lol.. Im definately accelerating hard/driving fast.

 

How do I drive my Volvo, with the steering wheel, right. This is the answer you were looking for. Actually I don't do much in terms of jackrabbit starts but I do like to find the curvy country roads and wring it out a bit. Dream job would be driving cars for the car test shows..

That is most of the time. But half the time I have the kids in the car so I have to baby it.

 

Our Volvo was definitely abused by previous owners and it's at 160K+ miles so I baby it most of the time (also it's the only one that the car seat fits well in and it's my wife's primary car). As for my daily driver... that's another story, pretty agressive with that.

 

Depends on what mood I'm in. Most of the time time I just drive it like normal kind of slow, but sometimes I drive it like I'm driving a sports car. In the latter case I sure wish one of them was a five speed though. I do like the feel of the Turbo though, I have to admit most any time I'm driving.

 

I'm still trying to figure out my Volvo(just got it)...the gearing is very different on my 5 speed compared to any other cars i've previously owned.

My mission has always been,to drive mystandards so the passengers don't feel the shifts. That is why at 205k miles, I'm still on the original clutch. Once it's in gear my driving is dictated by my spirit. Corners are good, on ramps are fun and posted speed limits don't apply as long as you are safe and prudent. (Keep this to yourselves)

 

I'm pretty gentle on my cars. I do let the 2 Volvos stretch their legs out a little on the interstate. My wife on the other hand thinks she is Shirley Muldowney between traffic lights.

When my my wife drives the v-70 she looks at the miles remaining on the tank of fuel, I have it set on instant gas mileage( I wish the computer went over 99 mpg), I'm probaly as bad as Prius drivers.

 

around town I drive the 960 pretty easy....I'm all about getting the best MPG I can. On the highways I typically try to be light on the pedal, cruising 75-80. And every so often I'll run it up into the triple digits on straitaways, and play in the twisties.

 

I baby my S60 for the sole purpose of getting the most mpg. Every once in a while I will get bored and floor it. That's drastically different from the way I previously drove my cars. The Volvo is definitely low-key in terms of police radar. Definitely not the usual suspect. But I just can't afford to get any tickets so I try not to speed.

I have had turbo's for many years and this may be my favorite. I love the fact I can hear the 850 turbo when kicking it. On previous cars theywould move fast but were quiet. I think most people upgrade their exhaust system in order to hear the turbo, nicewe havethat optionas standard equipment.

 

WOW LOL I THINK THAT'S WHY MY 99 S80 AND MY 1990 740 HAS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AT THE SAME TIME AND THE BOTH CAR NEED NEW 02 SENSORSLOL FOR DRIVING THE CAR LIKE IT WAS STOLEN LOL I LIKE SPEED AND I LOVE BEING @ 80 TO 90 MPH ON MY 740 IT'S SO MUCH FUN HOW PEOPLE CAN THINK HOW THOSE CAR FEEL SO GREAT AT THAST KIND OF SPEED AND MY S80 LOVE IT WHEN I'M AT 100MPH OR MORE BU THAT'S ONLY ON THE HIGHWAY ON NORMAL STREETS I DRIVE IT PRRETY SLOW

 

lol, MONTANA indeed. I've lived here for the last 3 years, and see maybe 5 cops per year on the highways. I don't worry about being pulled over (especially in areas where you see one car every 25 miles) so I'll take my time and mosey up to 100 or so, and slow down when there's a curve approaching, or a hill to go up.......sometimes I may have to pull back to 80 because that's how fast the car in front of me is traveling..... it's nice

I'm pretty gentile on mine but maybe thats because ive only had my license 6 mo and dont want a ticket.

 

i do 40-45 in the 30mph zoneand 70-80in the60 mph zone........... but im carefull

Good choice, But if you do make a wrong turn, you'll have a better chance walking away after the plunge.
