Default I eat headlight bulbs

Hello all,

I'm looking for advice on my wife's 2004 V40 wagon. For the past several years, it has chewed through headlight bulbs, which I have needed to replace roughly every 2-3 months on each side. A Volvo specialized mechanic (although not a dealer) could find nothing wrong with the system.

I use only brand name Sylvania bulbs. I wear nitrile gloves when installing the new bulb and use bulb grease on the posts. Both the driver and passenger side seem to burn out at roughly the same rate. The car otherwise runs well with no other electrical bugaboos.

I have become very proficient at the bulb change, to the point that if NASCAR ever starts running small Swedish wagons, I will be hired as a bulb changer on someone's pit crew. As this is unlikely to happen, I'd rather stop doing it so regularly. My hands don't fit into the small spaces well and all those replacements can't be doing the hardware any good.

Thanks for any help

I dont run my headlights full time, only at night or poor visibility.
Switching the lights on after the car has started avoids brief power spikes that I think do no good to headlight bulbs.
I0 months thus far on my latest set. H7 Halogen. Cheap Chinese bulbs too.

looking more like an exception in your case otherwise unbranded remains less in quality and wears earlier
