iPod Adaptor Fell Apart

iPod Adaptor Fell Apart
The plastic housing of my iPod adaptor fell apart. The wire still works, but the electorinc portion of the plug is exposed. The plastic housing is not durable and it simply fell apart in two pieces (at the seam) along with the small little fastener that disconnects the pod from the plug. I took it to the dealer so they could fix it, but they told me they wouldn't cover it under warranty because it must have been damaged in order for it to fall apart. Had I broke it, I wouldn't have brought it to them for warranty work. I fess up to my own wrong doings. There are no cracks, breaks or any other indication of abuse and they won't fix it. Either my part was faulty to begin with, or it simply isn't designed well enough to withstand the use. Ironically, I don't even use the car on a daily basis so it's not as though I'm constantly plugging and unplugging my iPod. Has anyone else had a problem with the housing of their plug falling apart? I hate to waste my time bitching to Volvo, but if that's what it takes I guess that's what I'll do, unless someone has an easy solution that would enable me to fix this thing myself. Thanks! Karl

RE: iPod Adaptor Fell Apart
duct tape.......JK
Where does the Volvo adapter actually come from? does it trail behind the dash at all? An idea would be to buy an after market adapter and and rewire it into the existing cord.....seing as how Volvo won't help you out. There are a few adapters out there that will charge the Pod. It wouldn't be all the difficult really.....
