Most likely a repeat question but...........

I have done a search but not really answered my question.

What exactly is a Stage 0, how is it carried out and why?

Thanks for any info.

Here you go:

After you've done these, here's the rest of the stages:

Let's not go there with the Vmax tag........... ;-)

The "Stages" are totally made up. There is no standard there, someone just decided go replace a bunch of parts and name it.

LOL

ES6T: Doesn't matter what stages you follow, as long as stage zero is for the most part complete on your car, you will see nice gains when you start modifying.

To me stage one is an upgraded ecu.

Stage two is upgraded ecu/cat-back.

Stage three is upgraded ecu/cat-back or full exhaust/bigger turbo/downpipe

Stage four is upgraded ecu/turbo-back exhaust/bigger turbo/injectors/fuel pump

Stages are all relative. But what we can all agree on is if you skip stage zero, your car won't be as strong as you'd hoped AND every weak and old part in the stage zero list that wasnt replaced WILL show it's face after you up the power.

Just an upgraded ecu will stress every old part that's been on its last legs and will fail one after the other. My personal experience.

What I'm saying is that the whole "Stage 0, Stage 1, etc" has no standard. It isn't like some universally defined term. If you brought your car into a dealer or shop and said "I want a Stage 0 done." they would have no idea what you are talking about.

Fogducker 12-07-2013 03:37 PM

I agree with both of you, after reading up what the "Stage" thing is all about it comes down to basically a "full tune up and general maintenance"....

I originally thought a Stage 0 had something to do with the ODBII system etc............but now I know it is just properly servicing your car and after that upgrades if you are so inclined, thanks for the input. Jeremy

PS. I have since found out that my recent purchase has the upgraded exhaust, larger turbo, reprogramed ECU and the engine was replaced in 2011 with new timing belt, water pump etc.......bonus all round..... :-)

Wow! That sounds awesome, especially in an AWD.

AWD and a 5 speed with lots of extras.....apparently when the previous owner upgraded the turbo, exhaust and ECM the motor (had about 250000KM) did not like it so he had a "new" (breaker motor with less then 100K) put in.......he spent a LOT of money on it, Falken tires, nice rims, all the upgrades and a spare set of almost new Bridgestone tires.....

Best thing, it had a leaking gas tank and his circumstances were such that he had to sell......got it for $1500... ;-)

There are a few that I have posted in my old threads but a couple more here............

I was VERY surprised how quick this car is, I have had fast cars and boats but this one is a real sleeper.....

Nice. I know of a guy selling an 850R front bumper if you want.

Car looks good.

rspi 12-07-2013 10:17 PM

Does the car have the rear self leveling shocks?

Nice deal. Those wheels are from the '96 platinum cars. Looks like they have been painted.

Good eye Robert... ;-)

They are the same rims, hard to tell in the pic but they were painted the same green as the car but they didn't get the colour 100%.....thinking of media blasting them and see how they turn out.

Yes they are the self leveling shocks but need to be changed so I plan on changing to standard shocks and different springs and save about $1000 if I bought the same as installed....

rspi 12-08-2013 09:31 AM

Mine actually still work. I am planning to start taking them off of cars in the junk yard to get some spare.
