Default No 12vdc on line connecting to a/c compressor

Hello! Does anyone know why there's no dc current on the lead connecting to the compressor clutch? The old compressor clutch failed, but after it failed, there was still dc current going to it. After installing new compressor, there is no dc current going to that clutch. Is it possible that some pressure sensing device (there is no gas in the system as yet) is disallowing current to get to the clutch? If yes, how does one charge the system with gas without being able to run the compressor? Thanks for any advise. Ric Lang

there is a low pressure sensor switch - look on the AC return line between the firewall and the low pressure port. If you jumper the pins on the connector it should trigger the relay. Check out volvotips.com to see if they have the AC service manual posted.

Smile No dc to compressor clutch

Good Morning! Now that certainly sounds like a plan! As soon as I get up the nerve to step into 101 degree heat, I'll try your fix. Thanx for your quick reply. Ric Lang
