Default Power shortage

So I have a 2001 S60 T5. This morning on the way to work, I was sitting in traffic and the power in my car completely shut off. The car died and all the gauges lost power. When I tried to turn the key, nothing. I highway patrol was able to push me off the freeway. The power came back on after a few minutes and was able to make it to work. Now after work when I turned the ignition, same problem. There was no power whatsoever. I put the car in drive then back in park and the power came back on and was able to make it home. On the drive home I could see the gauges dimming low and then back up.
Any suggestions on what this can be?
Loose cables?
Something else?

Yeah even I think so something is wrong with the wires. Does this happen all the time or it happened just today. May be the wires got loose or wet during the monsoon time. So not working and it is ignited. It is important o get it checked.
