Once again my 04 Volvo S80 T6 is rebelling ,

started up car yesterday morning noticed after a few minutes car started to run a bit rough and check engine light is on,
So I drove to auto zone about a mile drive,

While waiting to be waited on one of the people that works there
said that there was something sticking out of my exhaust
so I take a look and there's a long grey wig looking material sticking out ,
(at first I thought someone pulled a prank but stuff feels like fiber glass)

any how the code that was pulled was a P0304 code (cylinder #4 misfire)

So I'm hoping it's just a bad coil for that cylinder ....
what was that stuff from my exhaust ,

any help on this matter would be helpful

That stuff would be fiberglass. I think mufflers are stuffed with it, and maybe the catalytic converters on the outsides of the honeycomb stuff? Not sure.

 

You need a new muffler. It won't fix the code though.

 

okay , I will look into that , car is still pretty quiet ,I also have a resignator at the end of exhaust ,... the code seems to be from a bad coil , took a look at them earlier
and #4 is the only coil that says Volvo on it... they only cost $52

Replaced coil #4 on my Volvo S80 and the car is purring like a happy kitten,

 

just an update ,that grey stuff was indeed from the muffler ,car still is pretty quiet
and did pass inspection .... so I guess for now it's ok....
