Default Recall Sources for All Models

Dear All,

In case if you want to know what recalls are issued against your Volvo, refer to the following sites:

http://www.autobuyguide.com/1999/12-...lls/index.html

http://www.internetautoguide.com/aut...lvo/index.html

http://www.google.co.jp/search?hl=ja...+recall&lr=

Make sure to check for possible recalls for your vehicle, before spending money on a repair. Recall items are repaired at the dealer at no charge to the customers.

In case the dealer comes up with excuses as to not wanting to fix the problem, you may want to submit a written complaint to Volvo North America:

Volvo Cars of North America, LLC
Attn: Volvo Customer Care Center
1 Volvo Drive
Rockleigh, New Jersey 07647

Tel: 1-800-458-1552
Email: customercare@volvocars.com
Hours: 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM EST, M - F

http://www.volvocars.us/footer/contact/customercare.htm
http://www.volvocars.us/footer/contact/

It is not anyone's intention to blame a car manufacturer, but as a customer, you and anyone just want a pleasant experience with your car, especially something as nice as Volvo. And if you bought your Volvo brand-new, you have every right to get recalls taken care of, after paying $40,000 or more.

Good day to All,

JPN

Not that I know of. In general, recall items are issued against those that may result in jeopardised safety. For example, they are often released for brakes, tyres, suspension components, engine controls, etc... If there was a tranny that may contribute to loss of control of the vehicle itself, such recall would be released as well.

JPN,

1) are those all the recalls? I believe my dealer has performed more recall work on my 2 volvos than listed. My dealer never fails to do the recall work, its VolvoUS that lacks care.

If you pay out of your own pocket to fix a defect, then its LATER recalled, you wont get reimbursed. Its like their warranty or FSM program, they read the contracts they way they save the most money. Its disappointing to pay 40k+ for a car and they play word games with you.

Do you guys know if they will do the recalls necessary even if let's say, I'm the 5th owner of the car, and it is no longer under warranty? I just want to know this before I go in.

Sorry for very delayed reply; delayed for a year! I did not notice people were replying to this sticky.

I am not sure if the above web pages cover all recalls. And yes, recalls should apply to every owner as long as the same vehicle is on the road (as far as I know; someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

>My dealer never fails to do the recall work, its VolvoUS that lacks care.
That seems to be the case. Dealers are independently owned.

>Its disappointing to pay 40k+ for a car and they play word games with you.

Agreed.

What I'd really like to know is if a recall has been performed on my car yet. Is there a site for that?

Call your local Dealer with your Vin# and they will look it up and let you know.

If your car is 2005 or later you can check it on Volvo's site.

Quick question: Does a recall apply to all models, or only a limited subset of them? Will a dealership automatically tell me if mine falls in that subset if I go to then for a problem that is covered by a recall?

I don't understand your questions but some recalls have expired. Most are still in effect and any dealer will do them if your car has one that has not been done.

Sorry, I explained myself poorly.

I mean when I look at recalls on the NHTSA list, find one that applies to a 2004 S60, and it says "Potential number of units affected: 38700" Does this mean the recall applies to all 2004 S60s or just some of them?

My guess would be all of them. Call the dealer with your vin and they will tell you if it has been done or if it's due.

If you register the car with Volvo of North America, they will likely send you notices of any future recalls.

I just spoke to Volvo customer service and apparently, my unit does not fall within the recall, and that even though I'm having the exact problem mentioned in the recall, that it must be a part failure rather than a defect. This from the NHTSA site.

Vehicle Make / Model: Model Year(s):
VOLVO / S60 2003-2004
VOLVO / V70 2003-2004
Manufacturer: VOLVO CARS OF N.A. LLC. Mfr's Report Date: MAY 24, 2007
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 07V226000 NHTSA Action Number: N/A
Component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
Potential Number of Units Affected: 38,700
Summary:
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR LOCATED ON THE LEFT END OF THE FUEL RAIL MAY, AT TIMES, TRANSMIT INCORRECT SIGNAL REGARDING THE FUEL PRESSURE TO THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. IF THE SIGNAL IS OUTSIDE OF THE PRE-PROGRAMMED ALLOWABLE LIMITS, A DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE MAY BE SET AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON. THE SOLDERED JOINTS ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD OF THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR MAY CRACK DUE TO TEMPERATURE CHANGES AND EXCESSIVE VIBRATIONS.
Consequence:
MISFIRE MAY OCCUR DURING DRIVING THAT, IN TURN, WILL REDUCE THE ENGINE TORQUE AND IN THE WORST CASE SCENARIO, THE ENGINE MAY STALL WITHOUT WARNING. IN CERTAIN TRAFFIC SITUATIONS THIS COULD CAUSE AN UNSAFE SITUATION AND POSSIBLY A CRASH.
