Default Removing water spots on glass

I have searched and searched to find a way to remove the raion spots from my rear windscreen. They were really noticable every time I looked in the mirror, especially at night with lights behind me. I tried window cleaner, and every other cleaning product I could including liquid cut but nothing worked. Yesterday I came accross a product in the bathroom section of the local hardware store. It is a powder that you mix with water and apply with a course but safe plastic pad. It is especially made to remove hard water stains on shower screens etc. Sometimes we have to think outside the square to achieve results. My window is perfect now! Just thought I would share.

I tried all that stuff - best thing that worked was just windex on a scothbrite kitchen pad.

Vinegar works also. It's acidic and will break down the water stain.

Thanks for your comments, I hadn't tried vinegar before. I love the flow of ideas on this site. Next question: I have a mate with a black car covered in hard water marks on the paint. Any ideas on removing them? It has a clear coat and is not the kind of car to "experiment " on.

The vinegar (clear) should be ok to use also, but there are also polishes for that purpose.

Thanks. What brands have you heard of that might remove water stains from a black car? This is like the best news ever! Next chance I get I will try the vinegar as well.

For water stains on paint I've always esud a good cleaner wax like Meguire's and a polishing pad I attach to a cordless drill. Kills two birds with one stone.

Don't mind the hood in that pic, it was badly oxidized before I got my hands on it, just gives an idea about how well the cleaner wax works for me.
