S70 funny sound coming from under the hood

When the car is cold, a

strange motor or something revs up and carries on for a minute or so, then slowly winds down. It hasn't had any effects on the engine (that I know of) but it's loud, and sometimes it will do this at a stop light, but not for as long. Anyone know what this can be?

It is probably Air pump it makes strange noise like vacuum cleaner.

Sounds like something that has just gotten noisy. I have a simular thing with my 960. Not bad, just a little noise during warm up. Try not to worry about it.
