Hi all. this forum is awesome, and certainly has helped me out. Recently purchased a 99 s80, and on the way home it flagged the infamous 'brake failure, and tranny codes'. (think I got scammed by the used car dealer). had the local Volvo dealer diagnoze that indeed the ABS controller was at fault. From much posted feedback, sent the unit to Victor Rocha, who turned it around quickly. however when I installed it again, 15 minutes later, it was doing the same thing-same codes-goes in to limp home mode.
DANG. the dealer says the pump is not setting any codes, and indicated I shoudl go with a new unit, however Victor indicated the unit i sent him had already been replaced, indicating to me that the code has camoflauged itself as an ABS contoller, but it does not appear it is. Has anyone had thiese issues ? I am about ready to pull my hair out. it has to be something else......help

 

Did they tell you the codes they are pulling now?

 

Have not had back to the dealer again yet, but codes dealer indicated were: 146471 ABS 0093, ABS 0095, EDC 510F VSS. indicated fault traced to bad ABS control unit, ABS would not clear codes. I have checked the driveshaft to hub bolts and they are on tight. could an intermittent ABS wheel sensor cause this kind of anomoly?

 

I doubt it. The key really is the VSS code in the engine module.
I think you might have a communication issue.

sorry, I don't have those. still a novice wiht S80's. quite troublesome. still dealing wiht this damn ABS issue. ABS controller now on #3, and still getting abs fault. Pretty sure its a Transmission Control unit, although car drives fine until it faults, and then it kills the car.

 

That is still weird. I wish I could see all the ECM,TCM,ABS and Cem codes.
