Serpentine Belt vs timing belt
Hello,
I'm new to this, my dealer says I need to change my timing belt, I have a volvo C70 2001 with 100k miles. It has the original spark plugs and serpentine and timing belts ??
What should I do first ??
Is the serpentine and timing belts the same ?
I'm on a limited budget, can a back yard mechanic (one that used to work for the volvo deal) change the timing belt for me? or is it better to go to the dealer?
Please help

The timing belt and serpentine belt are different.
I would try to change that asap.
A generic shop or guy that knows some about Volvo's can easily handle it.
Alot of people on the forum have done it.

You should probably do both at the same time as the serpentine belt has to come off to access the timing belt. The labour is already paid for to replace serpentine belt when replacing timing belt, so that's what I'd do.
