Shift knob shroud replacement
Okay, this is not the usual mecha issue, but an aesthetic interior one.
The 2001 V70 I bought must have had a fatarse driver because his getting in and out wore holes in the leather shroud of the brake lever.
As the sole issue I have with the interior condition, addressing it will usher in contentment.
There is an obvious seam round the plastic base plate surrounding it, but rather than rashly start prying at that, likely breaking something, I thought I’d ask if anyone knows the subtle trick to lifting it out in order to access the shroud.
Fairly confident that the replacement shroud from Göteborg is some absurd figure like $118, my plan is to task an upholsterer with stitching up a new one.

Your use of past tense suggests you no longer hold the same opinion.

I went out to my car just now. It pulls out vertically. Grab the edge near the cup holder and gently tug up on it. Just lift straight up. Mine was held in place with three small clips. The other side is held in place with a series of fragile plastic tabs.
