SRS troubles, andother asorted electronis issues.
on my 2000 S70 the SRS light is on most all the time. now and again it will go off but on the next start up it is back on . i have no idea where the SRS sensors are in this vehicle, or what to do if i could even find them . i went to our local Volvo dealer to inquire on a diagnostic scan and the cost and found that it was going to be much more in the end than we paid for the vehicle. the previous issue with the fan dash light was solved by installing a toggle directly to the fan to turn it on or off in the event the vehicle ever over heated in traffic etc. mechanically and physically the car is in very good shape but it seems plagued with electronic issues that may be too costly to sort out . my last volvo was a 74 240 sedan carbureted and was simple to repair . i have never been good with electronic vehicle issues. anyone have any practical ideas on how to sort this out ?

yes I am. and the nearest dealer is Portland Volvo in Scarborough Maine . this car is 16 years old, they will not diagnose it for free even up to an hour. and today more issues anyway. went to a gathering, ran fair all the way out, on the way back it started to shudder/misfire when i accelerated and then would brake free and go . then the engine light came on and and stayed on. was trying to see if it was fuel, plugs or plug coils. i asked one of the mechanics if there was a test for the coils, his only answer was replace them and the plugs and see what happens. so we have spent our entire months retirement repairing this car. we can't do anymore to it. i believe it;s time for it to go away . we have already got more invested in this car than it would have cost to replace the head and timing belt on our 2012 neon sxt and we haven't owned it 2 weeks yet ! but thanks for asking anyway !
it seems that the issue with the SRS light on was caused by the seat saftey switch wiring. the seat isnt great on the D/S and i removed it to have it repaired. once i put it back in and re-connected all the harnesses and checked the saftey lock out switch it is now out and working fine.
