Default suspension noise

I recently purchased a 2001 S80 2.9 with 115k. When my mechanic looked at the car he noticed that many of the front suspension components had been replaced i.e. struts, sway bar link, strut mounts, etc. Shortly after purchasing the car I discovered that the front left rim was cracked. I replaced the rim but later noticed a strange clunking sound (intermittently) coming from the front left suspension. My mechanic checked the usual suspects and could find nothing. My suspicion is that the prior owner hit a rather large pothole, which caused the cracked rim along with some other problem, which has manifested itself into this clunking noise. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this occassional clunking sound? Other than this issue the car has been terrific.

I would recheck the work with the new parts. Maybe something came loose.

Clunking noise sounds to me like maybe..CV Joints....? Espacially if it is happening while turning.
