RE: timing belt broke
if the belt broke you may need a new head. most likely the valves bent.

RE: timing belt broke
Ya, your valves prolly bent. I have a 98 S90 and my pulley tensioner came off and messed everything up and bent all 24 of my valves. I had to get the head rebuilt, it isnt cheap :)

RE: timing belt broke
Did the seller inform you that it will need a new engine? If not, tell him you want your money back. If you don't get it back, threaten to sue him. Or ifyou are ok with what you spent on the car in that condition keep it and have it fixed. Probably in the ballpark of $2,000 to $3,500 depening on what approach you take. Any time the timing belt breaks on an interference type engine it messes up the valves which messes up the head.

RE: timing belt broke
And sometimes the piston tops get damaged from hitting the valves as well....

Which could also mess up the cylinder walls which would require either boring and putting in oversize pistions or boring and sleeving the block. Anyway you look at this situation it is not going to be pretty. The only question is how ugly will it get.

You need a new Head or all the Valves replaced.

RE: timing belt broke
Tech is referring to the cylinder head on the car, not the one on your shoulders.
