Question TPMS rebuild kit with new tires?

Hi Folks,

New to this forum. A quick question. I have a C70 2009 that requires new tires. When looking on-line some tire vendors recommend buying a TPMS rebuild lit ($20) to replace, rubber seal, valve stem, etc. Is this required? Has anyone had experience with their's being replaced? I can see where the rubber seal could breakdown over time and I'm not bummed about the $20.

Your thoughts would be helpful.

Cheers,
Ted

It can't hurt, I have them done at each tire change.

Default TPMS rebuild at tire change, cheap replacement caps

The tire dealership did the same thing to me today! Threw away my OEM metal hex shaped air caps. They said metal can affect the tpms sensors negatively or corrode something. I told them they will buy me new caps, they agreed. Volvo doesn't put metal caps on new volvos...they're all plastic, so I'm having trouble finding my original caps to replace. I kept them for 6 damn years and I want them back.

The metal caps are indeed a bad idea with the metal sensors.
