Default volvo maintenance

Hi, I am new to this site. I just had a light come up on my volvo that says it's time for routine maintenance. My question is do I need to go exclusively to a Volvo mechanic for maintenance or can I go to any mechanic. Also, I just recently had my oil changed and levels checked. Is it necessary to do these routine maintence checks if I am taking care of oil changes?

I call that the "oil change" light. You don't need to go to the Stealership to do so. As long as you are following the maintenace schedule that Volvo has you should be ok. Some shops might have the tool to reset the light. Check with your mechanic. Otherwise you will either have to look at the light or go to the Stealership and have them reset. Personally I don't use the dealer, So I know someone whom has the tool to reset since I got tired of looking at that light! Good Luck!
