Default Volvo maintenance book?

Hey all,
recently purchased an 04’ Volvo XC90 and am used to doing my own maintenance on my previous vehicles(non Volvos). I am miffed to find it nearly impossible to find a maintenance manual similar to that of Hanes/Chiltons. Could anyone help with a book(preferably) or site that would give me torque specs, fluids/lubricant capacity’s and so forth. Please advise! Thanks!!

have you looked here? Or you could find the free copy of the stolen and hacked VIDA which will have all that info.

Default No more books!?

Is there nowhere to find an actual book? I have a shelf of service/repair manuals that are full of grease and dirt, held together by tape and good fortune from all my previous vehicles. They become my bibles and get referenced constantly as I’m always working/playing with my vehicles. I would hate to think those days are gone and I have to soil my phone and reference small text and PDF versions of books. Ahhhhh....!

Volvo (and everybody else) switched from actual books to a computer based system - that was constantly updated. Every 3 months a new version came out with updated part numbers, corrected service info, and specific data for new model cars. A big advantage is computer diagnostics is included if you have the appropriate interface. (a DICE unit) The free easily found stolen and hacked VIDA, has everything you are looking for ( for up to 2015 year models) but you use a cpu to access it. Hardest thing for me was getting used to wiring diagrams - was easy to thumb thru Volvo wiring diagrams book for each car looking for the circuit or function you were investigating - now as you said - it's a pdf.

Kind of like not being able to buy a set of encyclopedias anymore - all that info is online.

Holy sh*t!
the more I look into the VIDA and DICE unit, the more I want to stab my eyes with steak knifes! Is there no place I can get a page or two of preferred fluids, capacity’s of said fluids, torque specs, plug gap specs and so forth? Can someone advise on some of these items on a 04’ XC90 2.5L turbocharged FWD Volvo. If not I gotta find some steak knifes for my eyes and that makes driving around town tricky....

All that is spread around in VIDA, and a Dice unit is only needed to talk to the car (which you will need to one day) You will need a win7 PRO desktop or laptop, with at least 3 gb ram. Here's a few screenshots. and what part of the US are you in? And yes there is a learning curve, and since it's a stolen program - there is no help desk. Oh and spark plugs are pregapped - just need to make sure they're not damaged in transit.
