volvo penta
Hi everybody
a nice simple question (i Think). i have a volvo penta aq 205a in my boat which is making the wrong noise. it appears to be bottom end related, can anybody tell me is this engine similar to a volvo car engine and if so which model. as you can appreciate anything to do with boats is 500% more expensive than the identical car part.
Many thanks martin

RE: volvo penta
auto parts are differnt than marine
marine parts are more rugged due to the fact they are always running at high rpm and always a maxium load on them all the time
it is kinding like driving with your brakes on all the time
marine motor oil is better than auto oil, marine oil is made out of better base stock that is why it cost more
u might be able to get away with bearings and such, but when it comes down to fuel or electrical do not put auto parts on a boat!!!
here is some info for u
