As some of you may know, I'm a graphic designer by trade. Many other forums I'm a member of offer decals for sale, the proceeds of which often help fund the forum for upgrades, etc. I did some searching here and found an old post by Tech (I'd find it again real quick if I wasn't on my slow iBook [8D] ) where there was talk about VolvoForums.com Decals. Unfortunately, the picture links have since gone belly up, so I couldn't see what was suggested before.

I often find myself with free time, and I love to give back to the automotive communities I'm involved in, so I thought, hey, I could try my hand at a decal design. I like to keep things very simple and straightforward.

So here's 3 designs I came up with: (my favorite being the middle design)



Is anyone still interested in showing some VolvoForum pride? I'd be more than happy to find a place to have these printed. To keep things simple, they would only come in black. I'm still working out size, but I think they would be pretty small for a "corner of the window" spot. If there is limited interest, I would only charge enough to cover printing and shipping costs. If there's enough interest, I would charge enough to cover printing/shipping and to give some back to these forums which we love.

What do you guys and gals think? Admin, please feel free to chime in as well. We don't hear enough from you guys!

 

Cool idea! I like the kind that are transparent and go on the window (is that what you are describing?). I could probably convince my wife to let me get one of those.

I like the last two, probably the middle one best.

 

Middle one best. Need two. One for each Volvo. With tinted windows white or silver might also be a good option.

 

I vote for the middle one as well.

Black & white is fine, but I kind of like to see coloured versions as well as samples, with navy blue font for "VOLVO".

Well, just a thought.

If there's enough interest, colors are certainly possible. I was thinking vinyl stickers, with options for either putting them on the outside of the window, or inside of the window.

I'll do some research and see what kind of local places do vinyl, see what prices are, etc.

 

Nice designs. However I am not interested.

 

No.1 isnot bad but No.2 seems to have the little extra umph

that grabs your attention and No.3 seems too conjested.

Maybe the word Volvo in red, or am I just being partial since I just got mine.

Possibly... two color vinyl, of course gets more expensive. It would be easier to offer solid yellow and solid blue. But like I said, I'm going to do some searching around for prices, etc and see what I can come up with. This will most likely happen after the holidays, but I'll try to keep everyone updated with what I find out.

 

Don't know if this has been answered but are any of the proceeds go to the forum at all?

There is a guy here in MN who cuts magnets/vinyls and stuff.

If you guys can give me measurements/designs/colors/etc, I can ask him for a quote. Unless of course 92Typhoon wants to run it (which I have no problem with). I'm not big on decals/vinyls, so I would sit this one out.

 

Id pick a few up just to toss in some $ to the forums.

I finally hit a slow patch at work so I can check up on all of the forums. Update for everyone, I haven't had a chance to look into much. As much as I love the holidays, my wife and I almost can't wait for them to be over [8D]

After Christmas, I'll do some checking around and see where we stand on printed, permission, etc.
