Default What to look for when buying a car from the Northeast of the US?

I'm looking at buying a car that has spent 5 years in the Northeast of the US. Being from the South, I've been told to look out for issues arising from salt on the road.

What should I be looking for?

FWIW, CarFax shows this car as being very well maintained by 1 owner.

Thanks in advance!

When you buy a car in the U.S., usually appear only with money and the concessionaire will be responsible for taxes, tags, registration and license, and can against financing if you pay by the company. If you buy out of state, things can be more complicated, and may have to go to DMV to register the car after getting the title or as a sale.

I think that last post is span. Other than that, really the normal stuff. You can look at the buyer's guide tip in the 850 sticky section. Volvo's are made in Sweeden and they have way more snow than we do. They know how to rust proof a car. You can see some rust but may have to get under it to see if there are issues on the belly pan. Other than that, service records will tell a lot.

If you don't know much about cars and how to check them for problems, you may want to hire a car inspector, like Lemon Protectors.

thanks for the reply!

i was looking at this 2005 volvo v50 t5 awd:

great carfax report but i was worried about the safari green color and the salt on the roads in PA. turns out, PA mainly uses anti-skid (a man made aggregate) rather than salt. i didn't think about the whole volvo being from sweden and snow ready thing.

anyway, ended up getting this guy at an absolute steal:

needs a bit of work, but i'm happy!
