Default Windshields

We have had a 2001 S80 for about a month. Today my wife was driving home from work and a rock hit the windshield. She said it started out small but by the time (10 min) she got home it had cracked about 10 inches. If I go to a local shop to get the glass replaced is it going to be as good as what was on there before?

Thanks

*edit* I was thinking of trying safelite auto glass.

They are usually as good as the factory glass. Some places even buy it from the Dealer then install it.

Are you going to have your insurance pay for it?

Thanks for the fast reply. As for insurance my deductible is $500. They quoted me $263.00 for the windshield that reduces glare(?). Does that sound resonable?

Yes that sounds good.

I know here in FLA. The insurance company's will pay for one FREE windsheild a year for damage while driving.

The windshield is going to be an aftermarket PPG. Is that ok or should I look for a OE? And my insurance deductible applies to glass replacement...just does not for a repair.

The PPG glass is good.

That will be fine.
