Xc90 ac not cooling on idle
Hi all, please I have Volvo xc90 2005 model, the ac does not cool while running idle state but work pretty fine while on high way please what could be the problems and what is the solution?
There are 4 engine choices for your region - what's yours? The 6 cyl compressor has a variable displacement valve than can limit ac function when it has a problem - or you could just have a slow leak and be low on refrigerant on the cars that don't have a variable displacement valve. .

The 5 cyl does not have a variable displacement compressor - I would first have the system properly recharged - with the right equipment when the refrigerant is reclaimed - they will know if it was low. There are many areas they leak slowly -
I just want to get an expert advice to know what could be responsible before going ahead.
Are the cooling fan/s running when you are stopped/at idle?
What are the pressures high and low side at idle?
Refrigerant is charged to the correct amount by weight?
Going to assume a (if installed) clean or fairly clean free flowing cabin/dust/pollen filter that allows good air flow through the HVAC system.

I just discovered in my xc90 that the ac in the third back roll is working(chilling) perfectly but the front and middle roll does not cool at all.
please what could be responsible for this and how do I rectify this? I need to have the knowledge before taking it to ac repair this time, they have changed the compressor twice before I actually notice that the back ac is working, it means it has nothing to do with the compressor.

Your car has 2 evaporators and 2 expansion valves - It's possible the front valve is bad or clogged not allowing refrigerant to flow. If clogged the question is what/where did the material come from that clogged it? Sometimes if a compressor internally self destructs it can send metal shaving throughout the ac system - and clog stuff up. Obviously the rear one is working. I have not replaced one (in a xc90/v70/s60) but looking in the flat rate manual and the replacement instructions - Volvo suggests .7 hours warranty time to replace the valve, not including evacuate and recharge. So I would imagine someone would charge a total of 2.5 - 3 hours total.
Hi all, I have this xc90 05 medel, recently I notice that when the engine has cool down or when starting in the morning, the engine will not start immediately, after tuning the ignition key it will start of off, at times it will start on third trials and when it start it works normally and it starts normal when the engine is hot or warm, pls what could be the reason for this.
don't know why this is posted as an addendum to your AC problem.
Cold start slow, hot start fine - possible fuel pressure issue. Your pump/check valve my not be maintaining enough pressure overnight. I'd start off with checking my pressure and seeing if it drops significantly over time. That's easy to do, cheap, and a good starting point.
