Default xc90 going into limp mode.

My 55 plate xc90 18 months ago started going into limp, mode (soot filter full dash msg) almost daily on uphill acceleration and overtaking. engine also started burning oil got down to 1 pint per 100 miles. when went into limp mode would stay in for miles whole day only clear with overnight no use. Went to local independent volvo garage used for 25 years. Started with forced regen, no change, Change some engine sensors, no change. Garage baffled. But thought oil loss caused by engine, turbo or inter-cooler fault and sensor picking up oil burn off putting car into limp mode.
New turbo and inter cooler plus recon engine fitted. Car fine for 6 months now back doing same problems. Limp mode on acceleration, overtake. (soot filter full dash msg) oil use now 1 pint per 400 miles. Only difference if continue to drive in limp mode clears after aprox 20 mins and 15 to 20 miles driving.

Car back into garage tomorrow for code reading and assessment.

Any ideas please? Garage also welcomes information.

Cheers xpc

It's odd. I wonder if the oil pressure regulator is stuck, over-pressuring the system as the engine revs? It would force-feed oil past the turbo seal and valve seals. Do you have a pressure gauge or just a light?

Any aftermarket mods of any kind? Crankcase ventilator installed correctly and working? Vacuum lines all installed correctly? Any exhaust smoke when you decelerate (indicates bad turbo seals)?

No pressure gauge, No after market mods. Assume crankcase ventilator ok as should have been checked on engine refit as well as vacuum lines checked installed correctly. I'll pass this onto garage tomorrow.
No smoke from exhaust.

Cheers
