960
i read on these forums about getting more sound or better exhaust or intake for 05's and 06's s40 t5's and v70 r's but i'm not so much sophisticated and i can't exactly afford that. see i have a 1996 volvo 960. its pretty nice and i've been fixing the exterior (new rims etc). but i'm really not satisfied with its performance, as anyone with a 960 can agree with. what can i do to increase performance without blowing up my engine? i need lots and lots of suggestions. i went to the 960 forum but i've never been here. hopefully i can get some more info. thanks

RE: 960
One do a STAGE 0, go to http://www.vovlospeed.com
In the PERFORMANCE section there in the PINNED threads there is a list of what STAGE 0 is. Do this first before any mods.
Why I am not linking it, is because I want you to search for it, it will make you a better Volvo modder in the long run.
Also you might want to become a member of http://www.turbobricks.com if you are not one already.
Are you turboed or no? I don't think you are. You just got the six cylinder right? My dad's 1996 960 wagon had a six cylinder in it.
1. Create a custom CAI (Cold Air Intake), or slap a cone filter on the end of your MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor) and create a custom heatshield.
No one makes a 960 intake. It has to be custom made.
2. 2.5" custom made catback system with a non-freeflowing muffler (Flowmaster for example). Have this catback made by a local exhaust shop, one that can mandrel bend the pipes. It will be cheaper then a prefabbed exhaust.
3. An ECU upgrade, I'm sure someone like SpeedTuning USA, Upsolute can create an ECU upgrade for you.
If your not turboed your really not going to see anything high performance wise.
Some will say sell the N/A and get a turbo model. Others will say just stick to exterior and interior mods.
