Default Cat converter

After looking at the cat. converter on a turbo 850, and the converter on a N/A 850, the only difference I see is the pipe leading from the converter is smaller.
Anyone know if this is the case? I'm considering making my own custom exhaust. I have access to a nice shop, I know how to weld, and I think it would be fun to build my own.
Thanks, Cranky

They might be close but not 100% sure.
