Default is it me?

i just got a magnaflow exhaust installed on my 96' 850 turbo, i also have an intake, and for some reason my car seems slower. it doesn't take off as fast as it used to... is it me or is my car??? ..it does sound really nice though. i think it kicks in at higher rpm... i dunno though i just might be paranoid.

You may have lost some lower end and gained more upper end power. But it is probably just you.

well by reducing back pressure to that point didnt he kind of spike the power curve? flattening it down low and bumping it up high?

If he went with larger diameter piping, yes. Enlarging the diameter piping of the exhaust without any other upgrades, will reduce the back pressure and usually takes away some low end torque and adds high end horsepower.
