I'm here to mourn the passing of my beloved 1998 S-70, which I bought used 4 years ago. I used it as my everyday driver (100 mile round-trip commute) ever since I got it.

I gave it to my daughter when her 860 wagon finally died awhile back, and she hit.....something (God only knows what)....and punched a huge hole in the oil pan. With brass shavings and pieces in what's left of the oil pan, it's a goner.

I'm bummed. This was a great car: great body, all the glass intact, the trunk and back seats still look like they've never been used, the dash looks brand new.....I want to cry. I had the whole thing gone through when I bought it; the only real work aside from routine maintenance was having the turbo rebuilt and the PCV system cleaned/rebuilt a couple of years ago.

For a couple of $K, I could drop in a new engine and probably get another 250K out of it, but I don't have the money/time to mess with it.

Guess it's off to the scrap recycler, since my usual salvage yard sources don't want it. It's a shame. And it's hard letting go of these cars, isn't it? Man, I'm going to miss her!
