Default "SmileCar" C70

Glad to find this forum -first drove a 740, newest is a2007 C70 (definitely NOT your grandparents Volvo!) There were plenty of 740 owners, but the C70 is a whole different species & I don't know anyone else who has one. Hope to have that change via this forum. Thanks to all of you who have made this resource possible!

Greetings,

Welcome to the forum, I wish you the best for you & your Volvo.

Many of us are influenced by the top-dog of the forum named Moderator Tech. Tech has made the forum what it is today. If Tech decides to run for the Presidential Election, he'll be sure to get my vote.

Good day!

Welcome aboard. JPN is right, Tech DA MAN! But all the mods and whatnot seem great here. I just joined, but have been watching for a while now.
One thing, when they give advise or direction, please post back with your findings if you can. It helps everyone. Plus, it seems like they (the advisors) are taken for granted and once someone has an answer, to heck with gratitude.
Anyway, welcome and good luck.

You have a brand new C70. I HATE YOU[:@][8D]. I would love to have a C70. Got to get the kids through college first.

JKS2, ok you can hate me . . . but you would love the car!

Silver Knight, first things first - not a guy here, definitely a girl!

This is the first "fun" car I have had since owning a Sprite just out of college (not that the Sprite ran well, but it was a sweet one when it decided to.) SmileCar is "Passion Red"with cream leather interior. (Yes, I look in the garage and think "Damn, that car is RED.") Here in the mid-Altantic, there was a wait for the C70. First one I ordered was ordered last September, delivery was set for March/April. Then the dealer called in October & said one had come in that someone else had ordered but didn't have the bucks for (maybe they were sending kids to college?) Decided not to go fordelayed gratification & took the chance of picking up a convertible in November. Surprisingly, it was totally comfortable driving in North Carolina Nov/Dec WITH the top down, even at night.

What do I like about it? Yikes, let me count the ways. You cannot get in this car for any length of time & not at least feel a grin coming on (no grin? you may need medication!) Pick up is not quite what I had thought, but once you get it cruising, watch out (I got my first ticket ever in this car, and I swear, I wasn't even speeding.) Seats are very adjustable &comfortable. The stereo system is "ace" (my nephew's remark.) Putting the retractable hardtop down & up is mesmerizing - whether you're inside or outside of the vehicle. It's a show stopper & an eye popper. (I've met a lot of people just via the roof! And been asked a few times if I "needed any help". Huh? What can I say? The car is a flirt all by itself.) A fantastic beach car, a fantastic backroads car.(Yes, there is room for my luggage &gear, even with thetopin the trunk, sometimes it's necessary to shufflethings a little.) I don't even mind waiting at stoplights or moving at a snail's pace on metropolitan beltways. Do not plan on being inconspicuous in this car, it isn't possible!

Uh oh, a friend just read this over my shoulder& told me it is "overdone". So, I will stop here. But, if anyone is considering this car, I'd be more than happy to provide more input.

Appreciate the Volvo welcome ~ yes, I love my Volvo!

Now I'm really mad.[:@] My dream car and favorite color combo is the red exterior/tan exterior.[sm=Awwww.gif] If you are ever driving through Kentucky you have to stop and take me for a drive. Don't worry, my wife would totally understand. She knows how much of a car nut I am.[sm=drooldude.gif]

There's room for both of you! You two can decide who gets the back seat! (BTW, saw the same model in navy blue on Long Island, it's gorgeous.)
