Hello, I am new to this thread and am hoping I can get some good info on the symptoms that may lead a certified mechanic to recommend drive shaft replacement.

 

The driveshaft is not repaired by the dealer; it gets replaced as a wear item. So if any of the components in the driveshaft are worn, you would never know that unless you hear it.

So I say if the driveshaft itself made any noise at all a mechanic would replace it. A second possibility is that a visible inspection showed that something was worn.

 

Which drive shaft? One of the front CV axles? Or the propellar shaft? Or rear axle?
