2005 Volvo XC70 Engine
I have a question about the size of turbo in my Volvo. I've done quite a bit of research and i cant seem to find out how big my turbo is. If it helps, i can tell you its a light pressure turbo. If anyone can let me know what the size of turbo would be, that would be great.
I believe the LPTs use a TD04L-14T and HPs use a 16T. What is the badge ie 2.4T or do you know the engine code? (look for a sticker on the engine / timing cover with something like B5244T2 etc or find the code from the VIN (positions 6+7 are a two digit engine code that will map to the longer form).
59 maps to the B5254T2 (2.5T) engine. You can google for details but from what I've seen you have the 14T turbo. In TD04 coding, the numbers (13,14,15,16 etc) refer to the pumping capacity of the turbo and to the housing design (ie flange types). You can buy replacement compressor/impeller blades to upgrade or you can research on compatible models (ie similar flange designs). Or you can trust that your turbo has some extra untapped potential and find an ECU tune specific to the engine model.
