Check Engine light was on. Code reader gave this code: P049. Any ideas as to what it means or where I can find the code list?

you are missing a digit should have 4 after the P

 

Number directly after the P is 0, according to the code reader.

 

sorry for not being clear, P (power train/emissions) codes are four digits long ie P0496 or P0301 etc. PO49x is an evap system issue - which could be as simple a fix as a loose gas cap, or it may require a part. Once you know the exact number simply google, IE "Volvo P0496"
