2008 Volvo V50 T5
Hi! We bought my newly 16 year old daughter a 2008 Volvo V50 and unfortunately the sellers were very dishonest. The drivers side lock does not work with the key fob, the drivers side mirror does not work and the drivers side power seat does not work. We had our mechanic replace the lock actuator and that did not fix the problem. Are these issues related? Someone mentioned it might be the power harness. We felt like the drivers side heated seat was working. The passenger power seat and heated seat does not work. The turbo works although it is very noisy and acts like it is hesitating/hiccuping a bit. It has about 140,000 on it. We bought it for $2,700 not knowing these issues and have put another $2,700 in. My daughter can’t even drive it because the seat is so far back and we can’t move it 😭 The used car market is terrible right now and I just wanted to be done with the car search. Thank you for any help and advice!!!

Normally key fobs are programmed to the car - not sure if your mechanic has access to VIDA to do the programming to pair the fob to the computer. You may want to consult a dealer (they may tell you you need a new fob and programming). As with electrical issues, someone will need to trace whether the modules have power or not and then work back through the wiring, connectors, fuses/circuit breakers and relays. Note that some of the relays can be within the CEM (central electronic module) so if suspect that device has failed, then you'd want to employ a service like xemodex.com to test and repair your unit (~$250).
