Default 50mpg symptomatic of injector problems.

Hi Guys,

I have 2017 XC 90 D5. I was really delighted with the car until the engine cut out on the road a month ago. After cutting out the engine was turning over but failed to start after that. It has been in the main dealers since. The diagnostics computer in the show "Injector Control Pressure too low. *About 2 days prior to problem arising I noticed a very minor vibration/ struggle when the car was cruising at about 1500 RPM. It was enough that I noticed it but not enough to really effect the driving or cause me concern. No unusual engine sound.
2 Injectors were thought to be at fault but when replaced, the fault persisted. The other 2 injectors are now being replaced.
Question:
1. Could all 4 injectors suddenly fail in a car with relatively low mileage of this age?
2. Is the car cutting out at 50mpg symptomatic of injector problems.
3. A non volvo mechanic (but highly regarded) suspects its no injectors but the fuel pump.

Any ideas/ views?

All help appreciated

answer in your other post. I assume 50 mpg means at 50 mph. If your fuel cuts out at speed, its a fuel delivery issue - pump or pump controller or a relay etc. Reason to suspect a relay is if the pump is going bad, it may draw too much current and that will overheat the relay (which will cut out). When it cools down, it will work again... Problem is still the pump however so replacing the relay is not going to fix that but yuo may need to do both. A shop can measure the current draw of the pump to make sure its in spec.
