Default Am I a yuppie?

Hey everyone. Today we were driving in our newly bought '88 240 GLE, when a friend saw us and called us yuppies. Never thought of myself as that as I am a very staunch Green and my husband is a socialist... anyway loving our "new" car. I'm sure I'm going to have a ton of questions, so thanks in advance for your patience!

Do you:
wear Birkenstocks?
have Ikea furniture?
like lingon berries w/ your Swedish meatballs?
Then, you like it boxy.
Your friend(?) has no clue.

Maybe we should start a "you know you're a yuppie if..." thread.

Sort of like Jeff Foxworthy's "you know you're a red neck if..." comedy act.

This may not be apropo to anything in particular, but the most ironic car sighting (also the saddest) I ever had was a few years ago. I was driving south on the 405 Freeway (in Los Angeles). A woman passed me on the right. At first my attention was drawn to her car--a beautiful blue Vovlo wagon. Then I noticed that the wagon had one of those yellow "Baby On Board" signs that were so popular (and so obnoxious) a few years back. (As if other drivers, especially in the L.A. area really cared whether you have a baby onboard!).

But what really caught my attention was the fact that the driver was smoking her head off. She would suck on that cigarrette and then exhale big, willowy clouds of white-blue smoke. Riding in the back seat, strapped to a car seat and choking on his/her mom's fumes, was a baby! [:@]

I wrote down her license plate but when I was finally able to connect with CPS, they told me that there was nothing they could do about it. [:@][:@][:@]

I found that the same thing happened to me and they (friends) called me a yuppie and have never even seen the car. I guess the turbo brick reputation preceeds volvos, i personally am disappointed that my 2k1 s40 is not a bit more brickish. Good luck with the car, look forward to hearing more.
