Default Buying a Volvo in Sweden

Hello all,

I'm the very happy owner of an S40, AWD, 6 speed, turbo R-design that I bought in Sweden in early Jan. 2010. This car holds the road like a true champ, and I speak as one who has now driven through much rain, snow, and construction. I'm living and teaching in Luxembourg for the semester. Soon my teaching duties will end here and I'll be a free man to wheel around Europe, ostensibly doing some research on the cultural history of coffee (I'm a prof of history). Well, I will do some.

Anyone interested in my experience buying a car in Sweden or a few posts about driving around Europe can look at my blog, http://eurotravhist.wordpress.com/.

Volvere!

Welcome to the site.

How are you liking Luxembourg? I lived in Europe for 13 years... Always enjoy hearing about other experiences.

Default living in Europe

I have been living for nearly two months in a chateau in Luxembourg. It's more or less a fake chateau by now, having been destroyed and rebuilt several times, but what the heck, it's great for the imagination--circular stone stairways and all. Lux itself is not overwhelmingly wonderful, but it does have some pretty villages and the Moselle River valley. And it's absolutely centrally located in Western Europe, close to Paris, Brussels, Strasbourg, and much more. So, Greasy, it's cool so far. And the car is fine. I avoided a ticket some how yesterday here; maybe it's my American face. The cops were intrigued by my Ohio license.
